FOR THE ENGLISH VERSION GO TO THE BOTTOM.

ENGLISH VERSION

Your last show in Argentina was in 2009. What memories do you have of that night and what’s the impression you have on the south american crowd in general?

We had a great show and the Legions were wild, hell yeah. We always like playing for the Legions in South America, but it’s often difficult to always find reliable promoters and make more shows.

Venom is still a relevant band. And to me is because the group has a very solid background, a consistent discography, but also a lot of mithology and a certain cult status around it. Do you think that new metal punk bands, stripped of these last two elements but with good songs, can still achieve massiveness today? In which bands do you see this potential?

Too many bands lose their perspective of why they formed in the first place, and it becomes all about money, then they become crap. I see lots of bands making their first album which can be heavy, then their second album is not and sucks, they never survive.

There is a new VENOM’s release on Spotify called Black Mass. Why did you decided to re-release Calm Before The Storm (1987) under the name of Black Mass but with the songs in a different order? and why the album is available on Spotify but there’s no information about it on your official website?

I didn’t, this release has nothing to do with me, it’s a bootleg, and I don’t advertise bootlegs, so don’t buy it.

Every person is the result of its generation. To me, the trademark sound of the 21st century’s heavy music can be found in bands that blend the elements of metalcore, sludge and industrial metal in their production. Do you think that Venom’s sound, being so classic, can still attract young metalheads?

Yes, our young fans continue to grow each year. We now have to play more new songs from the albums from the last 10 years as many new fans ask to hear them, and not many ask for the older songs anymore. We still play a few but they aren’t as popular.

The extremity that Venom helped to create back in the 80’s is still growing and getting darker and meaner each year. Bands like REVENGE or PISSGRAVE are just two examples of how brutal music can be. To you, is ever brutal enough? Do you enjoy this level of savagery or prefer to stay with the classic 80’s and 90’s extreme metal?

There are no limits to the extreme, and I always encourage invention and taking risks by bands. I detest bands who just play old songs, play like shit, don’t respect their fans, and basically turn into a tribute cover band ripping off the fans, tragic.

In the discography section of your website says that “other releases will be announced soon…” does this mean that you’re working on the sucessor of From the Very Depths?

Yes of course, we never stop writing new material, keep your eyes peeled for news of the next albums release. Also, at the end of 2017 UMG will be releasing a new vinyl EP of 3 new songs, so get ready for the mayhem to continue.

What are your plans for the rest of 2017 and next year?

Wait and see.
