ENGLISH VERSION

What’s behind the cover of As Was?

The cover is a sigil created for us for this album by our artist, Valnoir of Metastazis.

I have to congratulate you about the final mix of the album. What can you say about the recording sessions? What’s the key to make the kick sound so “punchy” without abusing of triggers?

The record was mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio. And was recorded in NY with a Colin Marston. The keys for the final product lie in the hands of Necromorbus.

Do you find something in As Was that defines BLACK ANVIL in a particular period of the band’s existence? Do you think that the group has matured in some aspects since the recording of the album?

I think BLACK ANVIL is always growing. That’s the whole point of this. Is tone creative and convey our message.

The songs are composed with different structures in the same composition. Which are your main influences? And in relation with the album cover, what philosophical or artistic influences do you have?

There’s many many influences across the board. Mentioning any, there’s almost no point. From books to records, movies, spirituality, sometimes a commute on a subway. We think these aspects are better kept secret.

How evolves the composition in the band? It usually starts individually or it’s an idea worked always in group?

We always work together.

What are the plans for the band in 2017?

It’s still young, but we have some touring in the works.

Is there any chance to see the band in South America?

That would be a goal, for sure.
